The development of your students’ research and communication skills is central to their capacity to be critical thinkers and adaptive life-long learners; it will underpin their potential to apply research in their future professions and undertake new innovative research.
This workshop will assist academics to explore the research and communication skill sets relevant to your discipline and help you to take a constructive alignment learning design approach to the integration of these skills into your Units.
This Educational Enhancement Unit workshop is presented in partnership with the UWA Library to provide you with the expertise of both support teams.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Recognise some of the core arguments for the integration of research and communication skills into curriculum.
- Use a skills framework to describe the research and communication skills relevant to your discipline.
- Incorporate constructive learning design principles to the integration of these skills into your unit by identifying the specific research skills students will need to effectively learn and complete assessments.
- Consider appropriate scaffolds and learning activities to support student’s development of these skills (inadvertently).
